Sanctuary

USA

Sanctuary, the brainchild of re/max chairman and co-founder dave liniger, is set against the epic backdrop of the rocky mountains. The course was designed by award-winning architect jim engh and opened for play in 1996.

The sanctuary golf course is located on a 220-acre tract of land surrounded by 12,500 acres of beautiful open space. Sanctuary is an oasis of peace amid the towering pines at the foothills of the rocky mountains, free of suburban construction. The topography is stunning, and you'll always feel like you have the whole course to yourself, since most holes play in beautiful silence, away from the next.

When you ever get a chance to play at sanctuary, keep an eye out for the course's resident wildlife, which includes mountain lions, black bears, and bobcats.

The sanctuary is owned by dave and gail liniger, who deliberately protect the delicate habitat by limiting traffic to just 9,000 rounds a year. The bulk of the money raised by play is donated to charity by fund-raising tournaments, which is a first. It's a great way to offer minimal access to the course while generating millions of dollars for good causes every year. We salute their bravery and purity of heart.
