Haig Point (Rees Jones Signature)

USA

Haig point is situated on daufuskie island's north end, across the calibogue sound from hilton head island's harbour area. although both locations are lovely and romantic, haig point's isolation adds to its allure. In 1987, rees jones designed a course for a private residential estate, and he returned twenty years later to fully renovate the layout, reconstructing all of the tees, greens, and bunkers.

The compact tree-lined, creek-laden course can be played in two different ways: the "calibogue" tees allow forced carry shots over wetland and coastal marsh zones, while the "haig point" tees use the same holes but don't need the same tough carries.

There are also two additional holes, one on each nine, that are used in combination with the two sets of tees. The par three 8th hole plays to an island green in the salt marshes, while the 17th hole's counterpart plays to a green next to the atlantic ocean.

The long par five 4th hole, with its majestic oak tree backdrop, and the par five 14th, which is rees jones' personal favorite: "[it has] been ranked as one of the top 99 holes in america," he said, "and we had to get an environmental okay on that because there's a little high piece of ground between two wetlands, where the green is put."
