The best-known golf resort in the Midlands, UK that is ideal for a break would be The Belfry which made its reputation by hosting the Ryder Cup four times between 1985 and 2002. The Midlands includes the counties of Derbyshire, Warwickshire, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire and has over 340 courses to choose from.
Starting in the North of the Region there is one of England’s great golfing experiences the Hotchkins Course at Woodhall Spa. Now the home of the English Golf Union The Hotchkins is renowned throughout the world as one of the great inland golf courses and in order to maintain its reputation, it has recently engaged the renowned architect Tom Doak to bring it up to date whilst still retaining its character. Surrounded by gorse and scrub and with the fairways winding through trees and the greens protected by deep bunkers it’s a great golfing experience. There is a second course there, The Bracken which is also worth a visit. It would be wrong to leave Lincolnshire without playing at the Forest Pines Resort. As the name suggests the 27 holes wind through towering pine trees with ribbons of green fairways punctuated by well-positioned bunkers and what are usually fast and true greens. There is an excellent Hotel on site.
