Tpc sawgrass' dye's valley course is another club that receives much less coverage than it deserves due to its proximity to a world top 100 golf course (and pga host).
Many pga pros thought pete dye deserved to be cooled off after his first shot at the players championship, and jerry pate did just that by throwing him in a lake after his victory in 1982. When he was appointed player coach for the dye's valley course five years later (it was also a major coming out moment for then-dye partner bobby weed), the golfer was offered a second chance to balance dye.
Nonetheless, pate won the first game, indicating that he didn't like dye's technique, and the resulting 18 isn't exactly a walk in the park (though all is a relative walk in the park post-stadium). Water hazards are also a major part of the playing, lining many holes even though they don't need as many compulsory carries as the stadium course.
Even then, at about 6,850 yards, it gives even the most inexperienced golfers a taste of the players' mentality. There's always enough difficulty to make you want to dip dye in a pond after the round.
