Streamsong (Red), USA
USA
The streamsong resort is located an hour south of tampa, within the grounds of an old phosphate strip mine that was once owned by the mosaic corporation, and its three golf courses are set in a breathtaking landscape riddled with lakes and spoil piles that rise nearly 100 feet in the air.
As mosaic wanted to restore the polk county site to the city, it seemed like a smart idea to not only clean it up, but to bring it to good commercial use by building an upmarket golf resort similar to bandon dunes in oregon.
As a result, at streamsong, the new architectural "dream squad" of tom doak, bill coore, and ben crenshaw were given the chance to replicate some of the golfing know-how that had previously been used to design 54 of the 72 holes at the bandon venue.
Since both sets of developers had decided on their respective routings, the two 18-hole courses were designed at the same time, with coore and crenshaw responsible for the red and tom doak's renaissance golf design company for the blue.
