In 2018, Gleneagles Golf Resort was awarded the "Best Golf Resort in the World" at the Daily Telegraph UltraTravel Awards for the Seventh year in a row.
With three championship golf courses, the PGA National Golf Academy in Scotland, and considered one of the world's great golf resorts, golf is at the very heart of Gleneagles. For almost a century, golf has existed here, with the first course dating back to 1919, the King's Course.
Three 18-hole championship courses offer a unique option for golfers and stunning views of the countryside surrounding them. The PGA Centenary is the signature course of Jack Nicklaus and the host of the 2014 Ryder Cup and the 2019 Solheim Cup. The King's and The Queen's courses are considered two of the finest inventions of James Braid, providing a definitive test of heathland and inland relations. The PGA National Academy Course is a 9-hole par three course open to families and beginners for more spontaneous golf fun.
At the foot of the Scottish Highlands, also known as 'the Palace in the Glens', the majestic Gleneagles hotel is set on 850 acres of land. In addition to the superfluous on-site golf, this world-class golf resort provides guests with an unrivalled range of sports and leisure facilities. There are 232 luxury guest bedrooms and suites in Gleneagles, each offering the ideal retreat in a peaceful environment. The historic venue maintains its traditional ambience, and an exceptional degree of service is supported by a ratio of more than one staff member to each guest.
Gleneagles Scotland provides a wealth of food and beverage services, including options for classical fine dining as well as more casual dining. Several restaurants and bars ensure that visitors are always spoilt for options, with food quality and service always maintained to the highest standards. Deseo is the on-site Mediterranean restaurant at the hotel and a perfect place to try a variety of dishes, from pizza, pasta and tapas to fresh seafood and excellent steaks.
The Dormy Clubhouse Bar & Grill is the ideal place for exploring the fantastic golf course. The picturesque panoramic views set the tone to soak in the atmosphere, enjoy some popular malt whisky and enjoy some modern bar food classics, next to the Kings and Queens 18th holes.
Auchterarder 70, situated inside The Dormy Clubhouse, is an atmospheric oak-panelled bar in the 1920s style, named after the original phone number of the hotel, and is a newcomer to the stable of the Gleneagles, offering craft beer and bar snacks.
The Strathearn provides stylish service and stunning views with two Rosettes to its name, plus the ability to sample the finest quality local produce, from mountain lamb to game off the moor. A devoted team of award-winning chefs lovingly prepares every dish.
Gleneagles Resort features state-of-the-art fitness facilities, swimming pools, Spa, Turkish baths and sauna, as well as health and beauty treatments indoors at 'The Club'.
The Spa ensures the highest level of service to ensure that visitors obtain the finest spa experience possible. ESPA's Spa at Gleneagles offers a holistic range of treatments to cleanse the body and mind, including ayurvedic massage, Orient-inspired reflexology, natural facials and hydrotherapies.
Gleneagles is ideal for visiting the Grampian Mountains, Lake Menteith, numerous castles, stately homes and picturesque whisky distilleries in the heart of Scotland.
Not only is Gleneagles Hotel renowned for its world-class golf, but the property also provides an impressive range of outdoor pursuits to ensure that all non-golfers have plenty to keep them entertained when on a golf break. There is a sport or activity to suit every taste and need, with recreational sports such as clay pigeon shooting and horse riding in the on-site equestrian academy, off-road driving and the traditional falconry sport.
Gleneagles also runs a gundog academy, working on teaching visitors how to treat a trained gundog with the school's labradors. Gleneagles is the world's only school of its kind and the only place to experience this wonderful traditional Scottish sport.
Situated in Auchterarder, Perthshire, for those looking to add some extra scenery to their vacation, the Gleneagles hotel is near the Grampian Mountains.
